The "Sansa reminds Sandor of his sister" motive that some people try to hitch to his character really just flies in the face of his actual attachments to her, doesn't it? Sansa reminds Sandor of himself. He sees the little boy who used to love knights in this girl who's been swept up by the same romanticism. He sees his abuser in her abusers, the much larger knight(s) beating on the helpless child. He sees how she is betrayed by every level of authority that should have saved her and remembers his father's neglect and Tywin and Robert's apathy for Gregor's crimes. He's protective of Sansa because he was Sansa.

And GRRM's design, that one of the strongest warriors in the series, a fearsome and cynical 6'8" guy who's "muscled like a bull" and has the face of death itself, sees himself in this soft and effeminate teen girl, and empathizes with her because he was an abuse victim too, is INFINITELY more compelling than "Oh yeah I bet she just reminds him of his sister," who he's never mentioned and who we know literally nothing about. Way to unnecessarily water down a character, you couldn't have ignored the black and white text more efficiently if you tried.

Thinking about the distinction between pre-regression STW and having his last wish to SHJ be that he stay human while gifting him plunder (the very ability that made Taewon feel like a monster) vs the current STW telling him that he won't try to kill Hyunje "as long as you remain yourself." Not as a human nor as a monster, just as Sung Hyunje.

Song Taewon coming to terms with the arbitrary concept of humanity, especially after being surrounded by these non-human figures because of Han Yoojin. Faced with the knowledge of his own origin, of Sung Hyunje's, Han Yoohyun, Riette, and all those other fanciful creatures, recognising that they're not quite human. That they won't ever really be human.

But that doesn't make them monsters either.

i like to keep the actual process of making toons unknown, but they require the power of your soul ! (yknow how they say that all your ocs have a piece of yourself in them :] but for real now). it’s taking an intangible thing, literally the concept of a person, and your connection to them and making them real. it’s drawing from your thoughts and ideas of who they should be and Making them physical and bc they have to be a person it also draws from like, your other base knowledge. they gotta know how to walk and talk and Do things and Know things ! so making a toon is kinda really taxing on your soul. it makes you tired and physically weak for a bit. but this is completely reversible ! literally just Dont make another one for a a few months. the lethargy/weakness only lasts a day or two, but your soul won’t actually repair itself for a While.

so that’s why mimi talks about ‘i made like 8 in four years, and she made upwards of 30 in like 2 years’ and how it’s a wonder delilah isn’t Dead. the ‘maybe she just more soul to go around’ comment is bc making toons whittles away at your soul, so if she’s made so many in such a short timeframe she’s either got a lot of soul or she’s figured something out to be Not Dead. delilah didn’t give herself the time to recover. currently I’m thinking bc she was using ichor instead of ink, and the ichor, being the word for ‘the blood of the gods’, just sort of made her think she was fine to continue at the rate she was. unbeknownst it Is still taking a toll on her. even people who suffered Regular toon fatigue didn’t deal with Ink replacing their blood and staining their skin !

Fighting oppression isn't the same thing as being the oppresser = why Gi-hun is even more of a hero in S2 of Squid Game than he was in S1. Why the Front Man's attempt at the end of S2 to paint the deaths of those in Gi-hun's failed rebellion as Gi-hun's fault in any meaningful way is exactly the kind of manipulative propaganda used to keep people "in their place," aka ensure than those in power stay in power while regular people who just want to survive wind up drowning instead in hopelessness, despair, and misdirected guilt.

In S1, Gi-hun is one of those many regular, desperate people just trying to survive. He fights his way to the top of a bunch of other scared and desperate people also just trying to survive, while the rich and powerful people who set up the games in the first place watch on and laugh at the suffering they've caused.

In S2, Gi-hun knows who the real villains are: those rich and powerful people sitting at the top, orchestrating everything while maintaining their wealth and power on the backs of the scared, desperate poor people they grind down and exploit. Gi-hun gives people a real choice on whether or not to fight with him against the true evil. He outlines his plan, he gives his allies the facts that he knows, and he asks people to fight with him without demanding that they do. He also stops people on his side from killing even the worst of their fellow players, because the all the players are scared, desperate people drowning in debt; many of the people in that room have at some point made awful choices in a desperate bid to survive insurmountable odds. Even for the really shit people in that room, however, the players are not the ones with real power to maintain the system that brought most of them to the point where they'd even enter these games in the first place.

Meanwhile, the games pretend to give players a "choice," yet they actively recruit from the very people their own system has ground down to their lowest points, have the players sign forms in which the first two clauses are that everyone there has no choice but to play the games and will be killed if they refuse, and then claim there is anything fair or any further meaningful individual choice in allowing a majority vote to keep everyone trapped in a system where most of them will be explicitly murdered for a single survivor's profit.

Gi-hun's rebellion failed, but responsibility for the deaths that resulted is still squarely on the same shoulders as the rest of the deaths in those games: the VIPs, the Front Man, and all the pink suited workers and soldiers who chose to work with the system that was actively designed to kill off every player but one singular 'winner' the entire time, anyway.

lolol in all seriousness, that’s cool! Technically, Cartman *is* in therapy. He’s seeing Thomas (Panderverse), remember? And it’s strongly implied he’s on medication (Cupid Ye). Can’t say if he’s getting better or worse, but Cartman definitely has evolved. If you want to go the redemption route, it’s been shown that it takes little for Cartman to be “fixed”. He just needs discipline, a sturdy male figure in his life. He… needs to be dominated. Literally (tsst) and if not that, he needs to get out of South Park— his biggest enabler. So, he’s not too far gone. He’s a real piece of work though, and South Park’s wellbeing (in-show and out) can’t function without him being an asshole. It’s just who he is. But whoever decides to stick with him has to have a lot of determination to deal some damage control, or keep him in check. (hm, sounds familiar…)
